Airport Find - Mini Nutella

Found these in the Chicago Crown Room and had to bring a few back for Aimee. So cute.

Rosebud Steakhouse - Chicago, IL

An amazing steakhouse. I had the Filet with a side of bacon cheddar mashed and Oysters Rockefeller for a starter. The steak just melted in my mouth and the oysters were creamy in a rich sauce with spinach and crisp on top. Amazing!

Billy Goat Tavern - Chicago, IL

The Billy Goat Tavern is a Chicago establishment. Way back in the day when SNL first started, there's a skit about this place. "Cheezborger, cheezborger, no fries, chips" and there's actually a guy who says it just like that.

The Double Cheezborger. They seemed fairly unasuming until I tried one. Flavorful and delicious thin patties of meat served on one of the best buns I've had. They hand you the burger in paper and you add the condiments of your choosing at a little counter. I've been in twice and it's always busy.

Good Humor - Chicago, IL

Eno - Chicago, IL

Eno is a neat little wine bar that serves up a glass of wine, cheeses and chocolate. We went with the goat cheese plate. A fun time with my mom, who used to be a big wine drinker, now she's a marathon runner, but she did have a glass.

Hotel Cheese Man

He gave me a slice of some intense Blue Cheese.

Boston Blackie's - Chicago, IL

This is a damn fine burger. The Boston Blackie Burger with applewood smoked bacon, grilled onions and a rich and creamy blue cheese. Served with a semi-dry coleslaw. A very juicy and flavorful burger, the bottom bun was a greasy mess by the time I was done.

MT Eats - Chicago Edition

Coming this Wednesday. Hoping to hit up Hot Dougs, Lucky's, Kuma's Korner, Rosebud Steakhouse and one really nice place, yet to be determined. (I really want to go to Alinea, but I'm not sure if I'll have time.)

Anyone have some Chicago suggestions?

Mini Stuffed Apples

An apple from our backyard, each one about the width of a quarter. Stuffed with dark chocolate, honey and blueberries. baked at 350 until the seam I cut around the apple began to bubble. The tart from the backyard apple with the dark, complex chocolate and pop of hot, sweet blueberry makes this a rounded, delicous treat.

An Onion that Blooms

Sliced onion dipped in egg, then flour and corn meal and deep fried, served with a chipotle aioli.

Lunch Delivery - Ciabatta Melts

Aimee is working today and wanted a bit of lunch. I made her some Ciabatta melts. Two ham melts and two turkey melts. Both topped with Amish bacon cheddar, onion, green pepper, mushrooom, garlic pepper, sea salt, olive oil and parmesan. Baked until cheese melted and bread crisp.

Flourless Chocolate Souffle

Mix 1 1/2 cups sugar
5 large eggs
when chocolate and butter is melted mix with rest and pour in pan or individual bowls a little over half full.

1/4 cup Frangelico, Spiced Rum or other liqour optional.

Bake at 350 until the inside is only a tad wet.

I like to roast or grill the fig first, it brings out a bit more flavour.

Cafe Zydeco - Helena, Montana

The lineup.

Cajun Gyro: Grilled lamb and beef, feta cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, topped with cucumber sauce.

Chipotle Pork Po-Boy: Pulled pork, pepper jack cheese, peppers, lettuce and tomato on a french roll with Chipotle sauce.

BBQ Shrimp Po-Boy: Grilled shrimp drenched in Zydeco BBQ sauce, pepper jack cheese, topped with coleslaw served on a french roll.

All three are delicious. I've had the gyro before and it has a great spice to the meat and the BBQ Shrimp will be a favorite of mine. Aimee loved the shrimp too.

Jalapeno Cream Cheeseburger

Burger topped with cream cheese and jalapenos. The peppers were canned, so that lacked any spice, next time I'll use fresh cut.
