The Coney Burger: Coney Island

Coney Island had burgers for a lunch special toady, and of course I couldn't resist having a Coney Burger consisting of: Burger with lettuce, onion and tomato with American cheese melted over a dollop of Coney Island's Coney Sauce (a taco/chili sort of mix) with a side of fries, ketchup and fry sauce. Delicious burger, but the Coney Sauce under the cheese really added an extra pop. Like a very neat Chili Cheeseburger, but better. Burgers are available Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

Coconut Chicken Masala

Coconut Chicken Masala that Aimee adapted from a Jamie Oliver cookbook. Chicken, coconut mile, lots of onion, tomato and some other veggies I don't remember.

Paired with a some cilantro and lime rice. I whipped up a cucumber/honey/dill yogurt sauce to go on top. A fantastic and incredibly easy recipe. Took about 30 minutes to 40 minutes to complete. (And healthy!)

How to cook 300 Dogs

Coney Island: Meatloaf Sandwich

As mentioned before, I don't get much meatloaf. I guess it's an underrated food, although it is a LOAF of MEAT, so I guess that could seem a bit gross, but I love it. Mike at Coney Island had a Meatloaf Sandwich special today and I had to give it a go around. All in all it was a decent sandwich. A good amount of pepper flavored the meat, topped with a bit of cheddar and served on buttered Texas Toast. Good. The toast really made it, the crunch of the toast and the softness of the meatloaf. I'd give it a try if you like meatloaf, but I don't think this a weekly special.

Big Dipper Ice Cream

Big Dipper Ice Cream is the newest edition to downtown Helena. They opened last week, delayed after a fire, but I finally managed to make my way up there last night. I met the owner, shown in the photo on the right, and she is a super cool lady. She fed me sample after sample of delicious ice cream. My favorite so far, Thai Peanut Curry, was just off the hook with flavor. Like a peanut butter ice cream with a subtle aftertaste of curry. They also make a beer ice cream from a local Montana brewery, but only seasonally, and it isn't the season I guess. I highly recommend dropping by for a scoop. Right downtown Helena on the walking mall.

My Daughter Cooks! (Kind of)

My daughter, father and aunt made these cupcakes this afternoon and dropped one off for good old dad. They were boxed cupcakes, but only almost two, so not a bad start. (A bit different than how mom and dad cook at home, but she had a great time making them!)

Fishy Night

We had Carey and Pete over for a little dinner night. Aimee made breaded Scallops that were off the hook with herb-y flavour. Carey and Pete brought over some smoked Salmon. Served with a side of stir-fry veggies. I prefer crustaceans, but it was all quite nice.

Candy for the sake of a Photo

Disclaimer: I just liked the color. I didn't actually eat this. (It is my photo, though)

Easter Nest from The Parrot in Helena, MT

I remember getting these growing up and they were always one of my favorite Easter treats. A milk chocolate cup filled with chocolate covered coconut and topped with frosting and little candy beans. Made at The Parrot in Helena, MT.
